Children's Policy

Checkmate is a task-management app intended for a general audience of users 13 and older. This page states our position on children clearly.

Our position

• Checkmate accounts are for users 13 and older. When you create an account or use a shared list, we ask for your age in a neutral way; if you indicate you are under 13, we do not let you create an account.
• The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not market it to them.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app's offline, on-device features work without an account at any age, and that offline use involves no collection of personal information by us.
• If we learn that an account belongs to a user under 13, we close the account and delete its data.

For parents and guardians

If you believe your child under 13 has created an account or provided us personal information, please email privacy@checkmatepriorities.com with enough detail to identify the account. We will respond promptly and delete the account and associated data.

Compliance

We handle children's data consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our 13+ requirement is our primary safeguard; where we obtain actual knowledge that a user is under 13, we act on it as described above.
